Privacy Policy — Clearist
Effective date: April 28, 2026
Last updated: April 28, 2026
Introduction
Welcome to Clearist, developed by Tensorboat and published on Google Play by Laserpay. Clearist helps you track how many reels and shorts you scroll through each day, set daily limits, build streaks, and compete with friends to reduce doom scrolling.
This Privacy Policy explains what information Clearist accesses, how it is used, what stays on your device, and what limited data is shared with our servers or other users.
By using Clearist, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, discontinue use of the app.
1. What information Clearist accesses
1.1 Accessibility Service
Clearist uses Android's Accessibility Service to detect scroll, swipe, and click events on the apps you choose to monitor. The service is used only to count short-form video views (reels, shorts, etc.).
The Accessibility Service does not read, store, or transmit on-screen text or screen content.
Scroll counts are stored locally on your device and are never transmitted unless you opt into the Friends Battle feature. You can disable the Accessibility Service at any time in Android Settings → Accessibility.
1.2 Account information
If you choose to create an account (required for Friends Battle and Clearist+ features), Clearist collects:
- Your email address (via email/password sign-up or Google Sign-In)
- Your display name
Your password is handled by Firebase and is never stored or accessible by Tensorboat.
1.3 Cloud profile (Friends Battle)
If you use the Friends Battle feature, the following data is stored in Firebase:
- Your display name
- Your invite code
- Today's scroll count
- Your friend list
Friends can see your display name and today's scroll count. No other data is shared between users.
1.4 Notifications
Clearist requests notification permission for daily reminders and streak nudges. Notifications are opt-in and are not used for marketing or advertising.
1.5 Subscriptions (Google Play Billing) (coming soon)
Clearist will offer optional Clearist+ subscriptions through Google Play Billing (coming soon). All payment processing is handled by Google. No credit card or payment details are shared with Tensorboat.
1.6 Local-only data
The following data is stored entirely on your device and is never transmitted to any server:
- Per-app scroll counts and daily totals
- Streak data and daily promise settings
- The list of apps you have selected for monitoring
- App preferences and settings
2. How we use your information
| Information | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Accessibility events | Count scroll/swipe events on selected apps (on-device only) |
| Email address | Account creation and identification across devices |
| Display name | Shown to friends in Friends Battle |
| Today's scroll count | Shared with friends in Friends Battle |
| Subscription status | Unlock Clearist+ features (coming soon) |
| Notifications | Daily reminders and streak nudges |
We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond what is described above.
3. Information shared with other users
The Friends Battle feature allows you to connect with other Clearist users via an invite code. When you add a friend, the following information becomes visible to them:
- Your display name
- Your today's scroll count
No other personal data (email address, selected apps, historical data, or settings) is shared with friends. You can remove friends at any time.
4. Information shared with third parties
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.
We share limited data only with the following trusted service providers, solely to operate the app:
4.1 Google (authentication & payments)
- Google Sign-In: Used for account authentication. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
- Google Play Billing: Used to process subscription payments. Governed by Google Play's Terms of Service.
4.2 Firebase (backend services)
Firebase is used to manage user accounts, sign-in credentials, and to store Friends Battle data (display name, invite code, today's count, friend list).
No scroll history, app monitoring preferences, streak data, or other sensitive personal data is stored on external servers.
4.3 No other third parties
We do not integrate third-party advertising SDKs, analytics platforms, or data brokers. There are no trackers in Clearist.
5. Data retention and deletion
| Data | Retention |
|---|---|
| Scroll counts, streaks, daily promise | Stored locally on your device. Deleted when you uninstall the app. |
| Selected apps list | Stored locally. Never transmitted. Deleted on uninstall. |
| Account info (email, name, user ID) | Retained while your account is active. Deleted upon account deletion. |
| Friends Battle data (Firebase) | Retained while your account is active. Deleted upon account deletion. |
| Subscription status (coming soon) | Cached locally. Server records retained for accounting and legal compliance. |
Account deletion: You can delete your account from within the app. This will permanently remove your account and associated data from Firebase (including display name, invite code, scroll counts, and friend connections). You may also request account deletion by emailing Bengucha@proton.me.
Uninstalling Clearist removes all locally stored data — including scroll counts, streaks, preferences, and app selections — from your device.
6. Data security
We take the security of your data seriously:
- Local data is stored securely on your device.
- All communication with our servers is encrypted.
- Authentication is managed by Firebase.
- Passwords are never stored or accessible by Tensorboat.
7. Accessibility Service disclosure
Clearist uses Android's Accessibility Service to detect scroll and swipe events on the apps you choose to monitor. The service is used only to count short-form video views. It does not read, store, or transmit on-screen content, and the counts stay on your device unless you opt into Friends Battle. You can disable the service at any time in Android Settings → Accessibility.
8. Children's privacy
Clearist is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction: Request correction of inaccurate personal data.
- Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated personal data.
- Portability: Request your data in a portable format.
- Withdrawal of consent: Revoke permissions (Accessibility, Notifications) at any time through Android Settings.
To exercise these rights, contact Bengucha@proton.me.
10. Permissions summary
| Permission | Why it is needed | Can be denied? |
|---|---|---|
| Accessibility Service | Detect scroll/swipe events on selected apps to count short-form video views | Core feature will not function without it |
| Notifications | Daily reminders and streak nudges | App works, but reminders will not be shown |

You can manage permissions at any time in Android Settings → Apps → Clearist → Permissions and Android Settings → Accessibility.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the Last updated date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will notify you through the app or via email (if you have an account). Continued use of Clearist after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
