Privacy Policy — Smart SMS

Introduction

Welcome to Smart SMS, developed and published by Tensorboat. Smart SMS is built with a single guiding principle: your private messages belong to you.

This Privacy Policy explains what information Smart SMS accesses, how it is used, what stays on your device, and what limited data is shared with our servers.

By using Smart SMS, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, discontinue use of the app.

1. What information Smart SMS accesses

1.1 SMS and MMS messages

Smart SMS requests permission to read, receive, and send SMS and MMS messages on your device. This is the core function of the app: to read your incoming messages and classify them into categories such as Promotions, Services, Transactions, Government, and Contacts.

Your message content never leaves your device.

All reading, processing, and classification happens on-device. No message text, sender information, or other message data is uploaded, transmitted, or stored on our servers.

1.2 Contacts

Smart SMS requests permission to read your device contacts. This is used only to display the saved name of a contact alongside their messages. Contact data is accessed in real time and is never stored, uploaded, or shared.

1.3 Notifications

Smart SMS requests permission to send notifications so you are alerted when a new SMS or MMS arrives, including while the app is in the background.

1.4 Account information (optional)

If you choose to sign in with Google, Smart SMS collects:

• Your Google account name
• Your Google account email address

This information is used only to create and manage your Smart SMS account and subscription. It is stored securely on our servers and is never sold or shared with third parties.

Sign-in is optional. You can use the core features of Smart SMS without an account. An account is required only to access AI-powered classification features.

1.5 Subscription and purchase data

If you purchase a Smart SMS subscription through Google Play, we receive a purchase token from Google Play Billing. This token is sent to our backend server to verify and activate your subscription. No credit card or payment details are shared with us. Payment processing is handled by Google Play.

2. How we use your information

We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond what is described above.

3. On-device processing

Smart SMS is built on a privacy-first, on-device architecture:

• Message classification: All SMS/MMS categorization, including AI-powered classification using our on-device model, runs entirely on your phone.
• AI model: When you download the AI classification model, it is stored locally on your device and all inference runs locally.
• Manual classifications: When you manually reclassify a message, that preference is stored in encrypted local storage on your device.
• Deleted messages: When you delete a message through Smart SMS, it is removed from your device. Deleted messages do not reappear and are not backed up to any server by Smart SMS.

4. Information shared with third parties

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.

We share limited data only with the following trusted service providers, solely to operate the app.

4.1 Google (authentication & payments)

• Google Sign-In: Used for account authentication. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
• Google Play Billing: Used to process subscription payments. Governed by Google Play's Terms of Service.

4.2 Our servers

We store the following on our servers:

• Your Google account name and email (for account management)
• Your subscription details

No message content, contact data, or other sensitive personal data is stored on our servers.

4.3 No other third parties

We do not integrate third-party advertising SDKs, analytics platforms, or data brokers. There are no trackers in Smart SMS.

5. Data retention

If you uninstall Smart SMS, all locally stored data — including classified messages, preferences, and model files — is removed from your device.

6. Data security

We take the security of your data seriously:

• Local data is stored using Android's encrypted storage.
• AI model files are delivered in an encrypted format and decrypted locally on your device.
• Communication with our servers uses HTTPS with TLS encryption.
• Authentication tokens are stored securely using encrypted storage and refreshed automatically.

7. Children's privacy

Smart SMS is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

8. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Correction: Request correction of inaccurate personal data.
• Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated personal data.
• Portability: Request your data in a portable format.
• Withdrawal of consent: Revoke permissions (SMS, contacts, notifications) at any time through Android Settings → Apps → Smart SMS → Permissions.

You can manage permissions at any time in Android Settings → Apps → Smart SMS → Permissions.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the Last updated date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will notify you through the app or via email (if you have an account). Continued use of Smart SMS after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
